Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

What is Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation?

At Clinique Physio Familiale, our physiotherapist Rosie Croteau uses a therapeutic approach to prevent and treat issues related to the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor consists of muscles and tissues that support the bladder, uterus, and rectum. The goal of rehabilitation is to strengthen, tone, and enhance muscle control, improving overall quality of life.

Common reasons for consultation:

  • Urinary incontinence (mild to severe leakage)
  • Frequent urination
  • Urgency to urinate
  • Overactive bladder (sudden, uncontrollable urges)
  • Difficulty urinating or initiating urination
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Pelvic or perineal pain
  • Dyspareunia
  • Menopause-related issues

We provide comprehensive therapy using various techniques, including biofeedback, exercises (strengthening and relaxation), electrostimulation, manual therapy, as well as pelvic floor massage and mobilization. Rosie will also offer personalized advice to improve posture and lifestyle habits, helping you protect and maintain your pelvic floor health.

What to expect during our sessions

At Clinique Physio Familiale, sessions begin with a thorough assessment conducted by our physiotherapist trained in Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation (60 minutes). This evaluation helps identify your specific needs and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Pelvic floor rehabilitation is an effective therapy that can significantly improve quality of life by addressing often misunderstood or taboo issues. For your comfort and confidentiality, all consultations take place in private rooms.

The first session includes a comprehensive evaluation to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. Follow-up sessions (45-60 minutes) involve targeted treatments, customized exercises, and self-management tools to optimize your recovery and enhance your quality of life.
